Nara Chandrababu Naidu Born

Nara Chandrababu Naidu was born to Mr. Kharjura Naidu and Mrs. Ammannamma in Naravaripalle Village, Chittoor District, AP, India.

Pursued primary education from the nearby village of ‘Seshapuram’ and higher secondary at Zilla Parishad School, Chandragiri, Chittoor district.

1972

Got a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Sri Venkateswara College, Tirupati. 

1974

Obtained Master of Arts (MA) in Economics from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati.

1977

Appointed as President of Pulicherla Youth Congress.

1978
February 25

Contested as Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Chandragiri Constituency.

February 27

Won by a majority of 2494 votes over opponent Pattabhirama Chaudhary.

Took oath as MLA for the first time.

Accommodated in the State Cabinet and appointed as State Minister for Film Industry and Archaeology.

When the central government dismissed NTR’s government, Chandrababu Naidu played a key role in the fight against the tyranny of the central government; particularly, he succeeded in gathering support from all the non-congress political parties and media and keeping the MLA’s support intact for regaining power.

Appointed as Chairman of Karshaka Parishad in NTR’s Government.

Appointed as General Secretary of Telugu Desam Party.

TDP government lost the election in the 1989 assembly elections, and NTR entrusted the responsibility to Chandrababu as the Leader of the Opposition representing the Telugu Desam Party in the AP Legislature.

After Telugu Desam Party’s resounding victory in the AP Assembly elections, Chandrababu took charge as the minister for Revenue, Rehabilitation, Finance, Planning, Small Savings, and Lotteries in NTR’s cabinet.

Turmoil in the party and dissent by majority MLAs within TDP against the undue indulgence of Lakshmi Parvathi in the party matters and administration of the State, and most MLAs wanted Chandrababu to take over the party from NTR to protect the party. However, Chandrababu and some senior party members, along with NTRs sons, attempted to convince NTR to preclude Lakshmi Parvathi from interfering in the party affairs, but to no avail. Under unavoidable circumstances, a change of party leadership became imminent to save the party from collapse. Consequently, Chandrababu Naidu was elected as president of the TDP and became Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

K.R. Narayanan took over as President of India, and Chandrababu played An important role in selecting the country’s first Dalit President.

Chandrababu’s pivotal role as national convener facilitated the formation of the non-congress coalition, National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the election of Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the Prime Minister.

Chandrababu proposed G.M.C Balayogi as the country’s first Dalit speaker for the 12th Lok Sabha. And on October 22, 1999, Balayogi was again elected as the Speaker of the 13th Lok Sabha for the second time.

Chandrababu Naidu launched a 208-day padayatra (foot march) `Vastunna...mee kosam` (I am coming....for you). Which began in Hindupuram, Anantapuram District. At the age of 63, he trekked 2,817 kilometres through 16 districts, 86 assembly constituencies, 162 manuals, 28 municipalities, 5 corporations, and 1289 villages, including those in Telangana, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra and North Andhra.

In protest against the announcement of the partition of Andhra Pradesh state, Chandrababu launched the ‘Telugujati Atma Gurava Yatra’ from Konsugala in Daghepalli Mandal, Guntur District.
